SHRI DANTHANI TIRTH

PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :

Shri Simandar Swami Bhagwan in white color seated in a lotus posture and of height approx 67Cms in a shrine located in the village of Danthani. (Shve).

ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :

Danthani Gaon, as it is known today, was well known as Danthari in ancient times. The antiquity of this place is believed to be well before 11th century. According to a reference, the founder of Anchal Gachha,Arya Rakshishurishvrji was born at this holy place in Vikram year 1136. Acharya Sri Jaisinhsurihi had visited this place in Vikram year 1141 and made it a holy one. Since Acharya had visited the place, it becomes evident that during that time a lot of Jain families were staying here.

In one of the stone inscription found in Vikram year 1298, it is stated that there was a beautiful temple of Sri Parshvanath Bhagwan here.

But it is not known when this temple was constructed and by whom.

A beautiful and massive temple, built of white marble with Sanctum Sanctoram, Gud Mandap, Chachowki, Sabha Mandap, Shrangar Vhowki but without Pabasad and also without any idols was lying here in a dilapidated condition for many years. Perhaps the idols were removed and kept elsewhere owing to some fear or due to some other reason. When and by whom was the above mentioned temple is still unknown. It is possible that the above mentioned temple is of Sri Parshvanath Bhagwan.

The above referred temple was renovated in the Vikram year 2022 and was then consecrated on the presence of Anchalgachhadipati, Acharya Bhagwant Sri Gunasagarsurishvarji.

Apart from the antiquity of this place, this is also significant shrine because of the birth place of the head of Anchalgachha Sri Arya Rakshitsurishvarji. According to reference found last Tirthankar Sri Bhagwan Mahavir had also visited this place,. From the ancient ruins and relics lying scattered nearby, it is evident that, this city once upon a time was a very beautiful and prosperous. All the idols in the temple are carved very beautifully and artistically. Besides this temple there is no other temple nearby.

APPROACH – ROUTE :

Abu Road, the nearest railway station is approx. 25 Kms away from the shrine, where all the modes of transport are available. The bus stand is just ½ Km away. Cars and buses can go right upto the temple.
