PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :

Shri Adhishvar Bhagwan by his Foot prints in sky color, of length about 33 Cms in a shrine on a hill on the northern bank of river Shatrunji. (Shve).

ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :

This shrine is believed to be of the period of Sri Adishvar Bhagwan and also one of the peaks of Sri Mt. Shatrunjay. Sri Adishvar Prabhu had visited here a number of times. IT is said that Sri Bharat Chakravarthy who was his son founded this shrine. At that time, certainly a beautiful temple might have been constructed. The temple also might have been renovated later, several times. At present, in one of the peaks of the Mount, the ancient foot prints of Prabhu in an ancient Dehri can be seen. It appears that these foot-prints are of the period of hoary past and on which there is no inscription. There is a large and massive temple on this Mount. There is a large and massive temple on this mount, which was built and consecrated on the inspiration from Vishal Gachchaddipati Srimad Tamachandrasurishvarji, the work of which went on for several years. The temple is very beautiful and artistic, with all facilities over there. In the circulatory pilgrimage of 12 Kos (38 Kms) of Mt. Shatrunjay, this shrine is also one.

It is said that the eldest son of Sri Adhishvar Bhagwan, Bharat Chakravarthy attained here final liberation. IT is also said that Sri Hastisenmuniji, son of Sri Bharat Chakravarthy, also attained liberation along with numerous saints, from here. It is also said that his elephant after entering into fasting austerities died here and went to heaven. This is the reason why this mountain is called “Hastagiri”.

From the top of the mountain, the sight of the Mt. Shatrunjay temples on one side and of Mt. Kadambgiri on the other side gives an impression of a celestial city. The light and pleasant wind blowing from over the body of waters of river Shatrunji adds cheer to the mind. The whole atmosphere gives one unsurpassable peace. The place is unique for austerities leading to total self realization.

APPROACH – ROUTE :

The nearby railway station of Palitana is 16 Kms from here. One can visit this shrine by bus or taxi. There is a tar road upto the hill but cars and buses are to be parked in Taleti and to reach the shrine by walk only, which is 2 ½ Km.

AMENITIES FOR JAIN PILGRIMS :

For lodging, there is a big dharamshala along with bhojanshala with all facilities in Taleti. Upashraya and Paushadhshala is also there.
