Brief History

A legend says that, a herdsman named Shreshtthi Dhandal had a cow who would not give milk. On investigating, the cowboy found that the milk from the cow’s udder would cascade near the base of a tree. Soon the ‘Adhishtayak Deva’ appeared in Dhandal’s dreams & instructed him to look for an idol of Shree Parshvanath Prabhu with a 7 headed serpent at that place. He did as he was instructed & the idol was unearthed. As per the instructions of the ‘Adhishtayak Deva’, Shreshtthi Dhandal built a temple & installed the idol in it, the consecration ceremony of which was performed by Pujya Acharya Dharmaghoshsuriji Ma.Sa. The unique feature of this idol is that it is made up of mud & sand. It is said that by worshiping the Lord with a pure mind one’s wishes are fulfilled. This ancient Teerth is also mentioned in the ‘Vividh Teerth Kalpa’- a creation of the 14th century poet Jinaprabhasuriji Ma.Sa. It is believed that by worshiping the lord with a pure mind, one’s wishes are fulfilled. It is believed that the virtues obtained by the auspicious sight of this idol is equivalent to 68 Teerth & thus it’s significance.
