On a low flame, heat oil in a pan. Add asafoetida and chillies. Sauté. Add spices and salt. Mix well. Cover and cook for 2 minutes.
Gently sprinlde gram flour and then water, evenly on the chillies. Stir with a spatula for 3-4 minutes till the flour is cooked and sticks to the chillies.
Switch off the gas. Stir the mixture for a minute. Cover for 2 minutes. Serve as required.
