The Archaeological Survey of India excavated Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh in 1999. They found hundreds of Jain idols, the foundation stone of a Jain temple with the date, a sandstone chamber filled with decapitated and broken idols of Jain Tirthankars with legible inscriptions dating it back to 11 AD. They also found a red sandstone idol of Ambika Devi dating back to 2 AD and Saraswati Devi’s idol dating back to 1010 AD.
