Kamal Basadi Jain Temple in Belgaum, is of the 10th Century AD and is under the protection of the Archeological Dept. The 2 temples in the fort are known as Kamal Basadi and Chikki Basadi. Kamal Basadi is called so because the Gumbaj of the temple is in the form of a lotus of 72 petals representing the 24 Tirthankars of the past, present and future. The stone carved Sinhasan of Bhagwan Neminath is very artistic. The pillars of the temple are decorated with carvings and brightly polished. The idol of Bhagwan Neminath was found in the jungle about 200 years ago. The Idol and other statues are of the 11th century AD. There are idols of Bhagwan Sumatinath in standing posture, Bhagwan Aadinath in padamasan, Bhagwan Parshvanath under the shade of 7 hooded Nagraj and idols of Navgraha.
