The caves of Udayagiri and Khandagiri (Odisha) were made for Jain ascetics and King Kharavela excavated them. The caves are so small that a person can’t stand straight. There are 18 caves in Udayagiri. Khandagiri has 15 caves with medieval carvings of the 24 Jain Tirthankars
