SHRI BAHUBALI TIRTH
PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :
Shri Bahubali Bhagwan in a standing posture, in white color, of height 8.5 meters in the lap of a small mountain (Dig).
ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :
It is difficult to know the true antiquity of this shrine but the temple was ceremonially consecrated after repairs and renovations on
It is said that about 350 years ago a great erudite Digamber Jain Acharya had practiced intense austerities at this place. On the top of the mountain there are ancient temples also. This new temple however was ceremonially consecrated in the benign presence of revered 108 Acharya Sri Samantbhadraji on the 8th of February 1963.
It is said that this is a holy place where numerous saints have practiced intense austerities in the past. According to Digambers, this is believed to be an Atishaykshetra.
In the courtyard of this temple there are erected replicas of various Siddhakshetras and also a Samosaran in an attractive and beautiful style. On the mountain there is a Swetamber as well as an Digamber temple.
This shrine because of its location amidst hills in the jungle appears very pleasing.. The peaceful, pretty and captivating idol on the hills make the Scenery extremely attractive. The erection of the Samosaran is laden with religious fervour and best quality art.
APPROACH – ROUTE :
The nearby railway station is Hathkalangde which is on Kolhapur-Miraj rail line from where this shrine is 8 Kms away, where buses, autos and taxis are available. From KOlhapur the shrine is 30 Kms away. There is a tar road upto the shrine.
AMENITIES FOR JAIN PILGRIMS :
Adjacent to the temple there is a dharamshala with all facilities and bhojanshala for meals.
