Importance

The Temple is situated on a small hillock called ‘swarnagiri’. At the base of the slope of this hill, there are 12 Jain temples. Among these, are ancient Ashtapad Temple, Parshwanath Temple & Chaumukhi temple. On Swarnagiri , a 2 KM long & 1 KM broad fort has four ancient temples. From the fort, the sight of the temples built on the slope looks spectacular. In the Jalore town, a newly built Nandishwar Temple also has become very popular.

Brief History

Vicharshreni’ composed by Merutungsuri ji & ‘Ashtottari Teerhmala’ composed by Mahendrasuriji has the mention of Swarnagiri, also known as ‘Kanakayal’. It is also found in the ‘Sakalarth stotr.’
