SHRI DRONGIRI TIRTH
PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :
Shri Adishvar Bhagwan in white color, seated in a lotus posture, of height 61 Cms in a shrine on a small mountain known also as Drongiri Santhappa near the village Drongiri.
ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :
Numerous ancient temples on the mount together with scattered relics throughout the area reveal that this shrine is of remote past, the extract extent of which is difficult to find.
This is the sacred place of Gurudutt Muniji for the practice of his intense austerities. A legend is prevalent that when the younger brother of Sri Ram i.e. Laxman was seriously wounded and lied in Coma during a fierce battle between Sri Ram and the King of Lanka Sri Ravana, that jewel among devotees Sri Hanumanji had carried away from this mount the life giving herbs to save or revive the life of Laxman as necessary.
Besides this temple on the mount, there are 31 other temples and a cave where it is said Muni Sri Guruduttji had practiced intense austerities. In this cave his Foot-prints are enshrined. There are two more temples also at the base of the mountain.
Full of medicinal herb and loaded with pleasant fragrance this mount with so many Jain temples looks marvelously divine and wonderful.
APPROACH – ROUTE :
The nearby Railway station are (1) Harvalpur 96 Kms and (2) Sagar 103 Kms away. The Nearby town is Bada Malhara which is located on Chhattarpur – Sagar road. This shrine is 7 Kms away from Bada Malhara. From all these places , rickshaws, taxis and buses are available. There is a tar road upto the base of the mountain from where the ascent is of 1 Km for which 150 regular steps are cut for convenience and ease. Chattarpur is 60 Kms, Tikamgadh 60 Kms, the shrine of Paporaji is 56 Kms, Aharji is 51 Kms and that of Reshandigiri is 81 Kms away from here.
AMENITIES FOR JAIN PILGRIMS :
There is a dharamshala at the base with all facilities where a bhojanshala is also available.
