ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :
The history of the Lord’s idol is believed to be very ancient. It is said that during the period of Mohammed Begada in Vikram year 1540, this idol was in Dhaneshvar village. The devotees fearing invasion and plunder had kept the idol properly protected in the river. Years after, members of the family of Sri Nathabhai of Chhani village got a divine indication in their dreams about a Jain idol immersed in the river. Undertaking a search accordingly, the idol appeared. The residents of Vejalpur and other nearby villages insisted on taking the idol to their respective places but as a compromise it was decided that after putting the idol in a bullock cart, a temple should be built at the spot where the moving bullock – cart would stop first.
Accordingly the bullock cart started moving with the idol in a great procession of the people accompanying it. The cart first stopped at Paroli on the present spot where, after building a majestic temple, the idol has been ceremonially installed.
This is great place of miracles. A number of non-Jain devotees also continue to visit the temple. The Lord is named as “Sacha (true) Sri Neminath Bhagwan. The idol is extraordinary and very impressive. There is no other temple nearby.
