PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :

Sri Shanthinath Bhagwan in white color, seated in a lotus posture, of height 70 Cms (ancient Presiding Deity) in a shrine at the village of Vatera at the junction of four roads.

ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :

On the seat of the Parikar of the ancient Presiding Deity, there is an inscription dated Jyest Sukla 4 in Vikram year 1171 which states that at time the Presiding Deity was Sri Mahavir Bhagwan. It is therefore probable that during renovations the idol of Sri Shanthinath Bhagwan many have been set and ceremonially installed in the Parikar. But according to the reference, this shrine is believed to be of a period before 12th Vikram century. The last renovations carried out in Vikram year 2022 when on the auspicious day of Jyest Sukla 3, the idol of Sri Sambhavnath Bhagwan was ceremonially installed at the hands of Acharya Sri Vijayjinendrasurishvarji which today exists as the presiding Deity.

Every year on Jyest Sukla 3 a flag is hoisted here on the mast of the temple Sikhar. There is no other temple in the vicinity. The ancient idol of the Lord is artistic, beautiful and impressive. In this temple, there are many metal made ancient idols.

The nearby railway station of Sarupganj is 8 Kms away, Rohida which is 3 Kms far from the temple. Buses and cars can go upto the temple.
