It is believed that Chandragupta Maurya became a Jain sadhu under Acharya Bhadrabahuswamiji. He lived with his guru at a foothill in South India. After his guru attained heavenly abode, he lived in a cave at Shravanabelgola worshipping his guru’s footprints. Towards his end, he took Sallekhana (fffast unto death).
