Mulnayak: nearly 38 cms. high white – coloured idol of Bhagwan Kumkumrole Parshvanath in the
Padmasana posture.
Tirth: It is on the Swarnagiri hill. Jalore city is built at the foot of the hills.
Historicity: In ancient times, Swarnagiri was famous as Kanakachal with many Jain crorepati
families residing here. In the 2nd century of Vikram era, during the reign of King Nahad a Jain
temple named "Yakshavasati" was built and the idol was installed by Acharya Pradyotansuriji. In
V.S. 1221, Maharaja Kumarpal built a temple and the idol of Bhagwan Parshvanath was installed
by the revered hands of Acharya Shri Vadidevsuriji. This temple came to be known as "Kumar
Vihar". This idol of Bhagwan Parshvanath came to be known as Kumkumrole Parshvanath. The
main temple was surrounded by 52 small temples (52 jinalaya). There was also a temple of
Adinath Bhagwan and a temple of Mahaveer Bhagwan known as " Chandan Vihar". In V.S. 1681,
Minister Jaymalji renovated all the temples on the hill and built many more temples. The last
renovation was accomplished under instructions of Vijayrajendrasuriji. It is mentioned that many
kings, their advisors and rich merchants participated in religious and social activities from the
second century to the eighteenth century. There are 52 windows and 4 doors namely Surajpol,
Dhupol, Chandola and Lohpol. Once all these 4 doors are crossed can the temple be reached.
Other Temples: There are 4 temples in the fort on the hill and 12 temples at the foot of the hill in
Jalore city. The Chaumukhji temple and the Parshvanath temple on the fort are believed to be
ancient. They are called the Astapad temple and the Kumar Vihar temple. In the temple of
Bhagwan Neminath built in the year 1656 of the Vikram era, there is an idol of Hirvijay Surishvarji
giving sermous to Akbar. The newly built temple of Nandishvardvip is very beautiful.
Works of art and Sculpture: The large fort on the hill is at a height of nearly 1200 ft. from the sea
– level. Enveloped by a fort, the scene of these temples standing in majesty is indeed captivating
reminding us of the past glory. This fort is nearly two and a half kms. long and one and a half kms.
broad and reminds us of the splendid past. Many ancient artistic remains and beautiful idols are
present here. During the Muslim rule, the temples were destroyed and the marbles from these
temples were used to build mosques. Both in temples and mosques many ancient images and
relics of artistic creations can be seen today.
Guidelines: Jalore, the nearest railway station is at a distance of 3 kms. and the fort is at a
distance of two and a half kms. from the foot of the hill. There are swinging cots (dolis) for the old
and the invalid to climb the hill. Bus service and private vehicles are there. There are Dharamshala
and Bhojanshala facilities are available both on the hill and in the village. There is Upashraya and
Ayambilshala also.
Scripture: Much information is got from the Granth " Kuvlayamala" written in V.S.835 by Shri
Udyotansuriji. "Ashtak Sangraha" and "Buddhisagar Vyakaran Granth" were written here in
V.S.1080. "Jalur Chaitya Paripati" and "Varkana Parshvanath Stotra" were written here by Shri
Nagarshigani in V.S.1651. A mention of Kumkumrole Parshvanath is made in "365 Shri Parshva
Jin Naammala", in "Shri Sankheswar Parshvanath Chand", in "Tirthmala" etc. A mention of
"Kanakachal" (Swarnagiri) is made in the last verse of "Sakalarhat Stotra".

श्री कुंकुमरोल पार्श्वनाथ – जालोर
फने रहित कुकुमरोल पार्श्वनाथ प्रभु की प्रतिमा १५ इंच ऊँची व १२.५ इंच चौड़ी है|
“सकलाहार्थ स्तोत्र ” के अंतिम श्लोक में गिरी तीर्थो पर बिराजमान “जिनेश्वरों की स्तुति करते हुए श्री “कनकाचल” का भी उल्लेख है | यहीं “कनकाचल” वर्तमान काल में “स्वर्णगिरी” के नाम से प्रख्यात प्राचीन तीर्थ है| इस पर्वत की तलहटी में जालोर शहर बसा हुआ है|
विक्रम की दूसरी सदी में “नाहड़ राजा ने यहाँ “मक्षवसती” नाम के मंदिर का निर्माण कराकर श्री उधोतनसूरीजी म. सा. के वरद हस्तों से प्रतिष्ठा कराई थी| इससे भी इस तीर्थ कि प्राचिनता का ख्याल आ जाता है|
वि.सं १२२१ में सम्राट कुमारपाल महाराजा ने यहाँ “कुमारविहार” नाम से प्रसाद का निर्माण कराकर श्री वादीदेवसूरीजी म.सा. के वरद हस्तों से पार्श्वनाथ प्रभु की प्रतिमा की प्रतिष्ठा करवाई थी| ये ही पार्श्वनाथ प्रभु “कुकुमरोल पार्श्वनाथ” के नाम से पहिचाने गए होंगे | कालक्रम से इस मंदिर का ध्वंस हुआ और नूतन मंदिर में उसी प्रतिमा का स्थापित की हो, ऐसा मेहमान है|
