SHRI DATHA TIRTH

PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :

Shri Shanthinath Bhagwan seated in a lotus posture, in white color of height 54 Cms in a shrine located in the midst of Datha village. (Shve).

ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :

This temple is very ancient. Earlier the Presiding Deity was Sri Parshvanath Bhagwan. But after 155 years, during renovations the idol of Sri Shanthinath Bhagwan was sanctified, which is the main idol now.

The miraculous idol of Sri Shanthinath Bhagwan is said to have been recovered from a river. The ancient main idol of Sri Parshvanath Bhagwan is also seated here.

This shrine is one amongst the five teerths of Shatrunjay Maha Teerth, hence there is no doubt on its antiquity. There is no other temple other than this over here.

The idols are very attractive. The various forms of 33 Pat in the Sabha Mandap of the temple are also artistic, elegant and adds to the beauty of the temple .

APPROACH – ROUTE :

The nearby railway station of Palitana which is 55 KMs away. It is 7 Kms away from the highway of Talaja to Mahuva. It is 22 KMs away from Mahuva, 22 Kms from Talaja, 75 Kms from Bhavnagar and 95 Kms from Ghogha. Facilities of bus and taxis are available from all the places and the cars and buses can go upto the temple. The nearest airport is Bhavanagar.
