KUNDALPUR TIRTH

SHRI KUNDALPUR TIRTH

PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :

Sri Adinath Bhagwan (Bade Baba) in red color, seated in a lotus posture on a throne, of height 15 feet in a shrine on a mountain of Kundalakar (circular reservoir or a near ring) adjacent to the village of Kundalpur at its base. (Dig).

ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :

The shrine belongs to the period of hoary past to know the exact antiquity of which is very difficult. A reference is available about its repairs and renovations having been carried out in Vikram year 1548. This is the place where Sri Sridhar Kevali attained Moksha. The idol of Sri Mahavir Swami is quiet looking, sober and miraculous. People around the area know it as Bade Baba and they keep coming in thousands with faith and devotion for offering their prayers and worship. Very often miracles take place here. Such an ancient large size, magnificent and beautiful of Sri Adinath Bhagwan seated in a lotus posture is found nowhere else.

Besides this temple, there are 46 more temples on the mountain and 18 at the base.

The miraculous idol of Sri Bade Baba cannot be described in words. The group of temples on the mountain top appears very enchanting. There is a large lake at the base of the mountain known as Vardhaman Sagar which adds beauty to the whole area.

APPROACH – ROUTE :

The nearby Railway Station is Damoh 38 Kms away from the shrine and located on Binakatni railway junction and on Jabalpur – Sagar road. The nearby large town of Hata is 16 Kms away. From both these places, buses and taxis are available and there is a tar road upto the dharamshala.

AMENITIES FOR JAIN PILGRIMS :

At the base, there are 5 large dharamshalas and 4 rest houses with all facilities including that of bhojanshala. On the mountain also water and electricity are available. Fro ascent to the mount from base, durable and good cement steps are made.
