PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :

Sri Adishvar Bhagwan in black color, seated in a lotus posture, of height 2.5 feet in a shrine together with 108 other temples of large size adorned by sky reaching Sikhars in the middle of a sprawling walled compound on an even ground level, five kilometers away from Tikamgadh on the grand trunk road between Tikamgadh and Jabalpur (Dig).

ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :

It is said that this area was known as Pampapur in the remote past. There are several inscriptions on many idols in these temples which are dated Vikram 12th century. The renovations on this temple were carried out in Vikram year 1718 and the ceremonial consecration was done by Acharya Sri Dharmakirtiji, Bhattarakji Sri Padmakirtiji and Sakalkirtiji. The idol of the Presiding Deity Sri Adishvar Bhagwan is installed in an underground cell and on it is found an inscription dated Vikram year 1202.

The deep and dense forest surrounding all sides of the temples is known as “Ramanta” (Ramaranya). It is said that Sri Ramchandraji during his walk from Ayodhya to Arachha stayed in this forest. Many miraculous happenings take place here such as receiving pots and utensils of choice from a stepped well, sudden streaming out of water from long-dried well at the time of ceremonial consecration of the temple, curing of intermittent fevers and other fatal diseases etc., Even today devotees coming here get themselves completely relieved of their physical ailments and afflictions. Every year a festival fair is held here during Kartik Sukla 13 to Kartik Poornima.

The idols installed in the underground cell here are very enchanting and beautiful Such a gigantic cluster of temples in one place gives to a distant viewer an appearance of a stupendously divine city. In this very sprawling walled compound there are 108 temples of differently styled architecture besides this one.
