SHRI POKHRAN TIRTH

PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :

Shri Parshvanath Bhagwan in white color, seated in a lotus posture , of height 75 Cms, located in a shrine in the village of Pokhran (Shve).

ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :

This shrine was consecrated in Vikram year 1548. After renovation, it was once again consecrated in Vikram year 1883. This shrine is one of the Jaisalmer Panch Teerthi. The carving on the buildings constructed of red stone are worth seeing. Near this temple, there are other two temples and outside the village there is also one ancient Dadawadi.

APPROACH – ROUTE :

The railway station of Pokhran is one Km away from the temple. The passage near the temples being a narrow one, even private cars and buses have to be parked at a distance of 100meters from the temple. The public bus-stand is 250 meters away. This shrine is located on Jodhpur-Jaisalmer road. Jaisalmer is 40 kms away from Pokhran.

AMENITIES FOR JAIN PILGRIMS :

There is a small dharamshala for lodging only near the temple where both water and electricity are available.
