PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :

Sri Amizara Parshvanath Bhagwan in black color seated in a lotus posture and of height 90 cms in the town of Vadali. (Shve).

ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :

A reference is found that the ancient name of this place was vatapalli. This temple of Sri Parshvanath Bhagwan is believed to be of a period before 12th Vikram century. This is birth place of Sri Vattapalli Gachchha. In Nanrona village of Marwad, there is an idol with an inscription dated Vikram year 1188 in which Vatapalli Gachchha has been referred to. In another temple of this place viz the temple of Sri Shanthinath Bhagwan with 52 small surrounding room shrines, in the “Bhamati” round the inner sanctum, there is a small single room shrine in which on “Pabasad” an inscription is found which states that the temple was renovated and again ceremonially consecrated on the 4th bright day of the month of Vaishakh in Vikram year 1275 at the hands of Acharya Sri Sonsundersurishvarji. Even in the composition entitled “Prahasti Sangrah” this shrine has been described.

At one time from this idol, ambrosia (Ami) in great quantity was oozing out and for that reason devotees used to call this idol as Amizara Parshvanath Bhagwan. The idol is believed to be great worker of miracles. It is noteworthy that Acharyas of Vattapalli Gachchha have performed many deeds from time to time at various places for the glorification of Jain religion.

Besides this temple, there are two temples here: one of Sri Shanthinath Bhagwan and the other of Sri Adinath Bhagwan. Both of these temples are believed to be of a period earlier that 12th Vikram century. There is a third temple lying in ruins which is also called the temple of Sri Shanthinath Bhagwan.

In all these temples, old Jain idols are seen and the art displayed in all of them is quite pleasing though extremely sober and unassuming.

APPROACH – ROUTE :

The nearby railway station of Vadali is about a Km from the temple. On Ahemdabad-Khedbrahma road, Vadali is before Khedbrahma. From Idar shrine, this shrine is 14 Kms away from Khedbrahma and from Himmatnagar it is at a distance of 44 Kms. In the town Vadali, auto-rickshaws are available for transport.
