SHRI VALAM TIRTH

PRESIDING DEITY AND LOCATION :

Sri Neminath Bhagwan in black color seated in a lotus posture, of height 90 Cms in Valan village (Shve).

ANTIQUITY AND SALIENT FEATURES :

The history of this shrine is believed to be very ancient. It is said that in scriptures a reference is found about three Jain idols made and installed by a Jain householder named Ashadi Shravak in the past. This present idols is one of them. There is no inscription on it but its very shape and form be speak of its antiquity. In the area surrounding this village many old artistic relics are available which in itself is a testimony of the antiquity of this place.

Detailed history of this shrine and the area is not available. So ancient and beautiful the idol of Sri Neminath Bhagwan is rarely to be sighted anywhere else. Its significance lies in its being made and installed by a Jain householder Ashadhi Shravak. On Vaishakh Sukla 6 every year, a anniversary is celebrated at this place. There is no other temple nearby.

APPROACH – ROUTE :

The nearby railway station for this shrine are Bisnagar 8 Kms, Unza 16 Kms, Tarangaji 55 Kms and Mahudi 40 Kms away, from where buses and taxis are available. The bus stand is about 400 meters away from the temple. Buses have to stop at this point as the road is very narrow one. Cars however can go upto the temple.

AMENITIES FOR JAIN PILGRIMS :

There is a dharamshala for lodging near the temple with all facilities including bhojanshala.
