Mulnayak: Nearly 15cms. high black – coloured idol of Bhagwan Sankatharan Parshvanath in the padmasana posture. There is an umbrella of 5 hoods over the head of the idol.
Tirth: It is in the town of Jaisalmer.
Historicity: Jaisalmer is a very ancient and historic city. There were 84 Upashrayas of 84 Gacchas here. Jainism is prevalent in Jaisalmer from the time this city was established by Jaisalji. Almost all the temples here are as ancient as the city. There is a two – storeyed temple of Shri Suparshvanath Bhagwan in Kotharipado in the town of Jaisalmer. This temple is also known ad Tappagacchia temple. In the second storey of this temple, the idol of Sankatharan Parshvanath is installed as the Mulnayak. There is also an idol of Godi Parshvanath here. According to the inscription available in the temple, this temple was built by the Jain sangh and the idols installed in V.S.1868 on Akshaya Trithiya day.

Scripture: A mention of Sankatharan Parshvanath is made in “365 Shri Parshvajin Naammala”, in “Tirthmala”, in “Shri Parshvanath Naammala” etc. There is an idol of Sankatharan Parshvanath in Kareda Tirth.
