90.Kukdeshwar Parshwanath
Mulnayak: Nearly 68 cms. high, black-coloured idol of Bhagwan Kukadeshwar Parshvanath in the Padmansana posture. There is an umbrella of 9 hoods over the head of the idol.
Tirth: It is in the Kukadeshwar village.
Historicity: This tirth is believed to be 1050 years old. On the present idol in the temple, there is an inscription of the year 1676 of the Vikram era. The original idol was swept far away in the flow of time. The present black stone idol of Parshvanathji presents a delightful scene to devotees. The establishment of this temple is related to the story of Dutt Brahmin of Vasantpur. Thinking of committing suicide due to an incurable disease, he meets a Jain monk who instills in him the principles of Jainism. One day he asks Gunsagar kevali about his future. Gunsagar kevali tells him about his next two births, one as a hen and the other as King Eshwar. In the depth of his splendid future, Dutt Brahmin saw Parshvanath, the future Tirthankara as the architect of eternal happiness. King Eshwar in memory of his last two births, got a beautiful idol of Bhagwan Parshvanath made and got it installed in the present temple. Kurkateshwar Parshvanath is popularly known as Kukadeshwar Parshvanath. This temple is recently renovated. A fair is held here every year on the tenth day of the bright half of the month of Bhadrapad
.

Guidelines: The nearest railway station of Nimach is at a distance of 45 kms., Mandsaur is at a distance of 60 kms. and Ratlam is at a distance of 117kms. Bus service and private vehicles are available from these places. Nearby, there is a place to stay. If informed earlier, arrangement for food is made.
Scripture: A mention of Kukudeshwar parshvanath is made in “Vividh Tirth Kalp”, in “Updesh Tarangini”, in “Shri Sankheswar Parshvanath Chand”, in “Shri Godiji Parshvanath Stavan”, in “Shri Parshvanath Naammala”, in “Chaitya Paripati”, in “135 Naam Garbhit Shri Parshvanath Stavan” etc. An idol of Kukadeshwar Parshvanath is there in Shri Adinath temple (52 jinalaya) in Vadvan city in Saurashtra, in Jiravala Tirth, in Kareda Tirth and in Kalikund Parshvanath temple in Santacruz, Mumbai.

श्री कुकडेश्वर पार्श्वनाथ – मंदसोर
मध्य प्रदेश के मंदसोर जिले में कुकडेश्वर गांव में श्री कुकडेश्वर पार्श्वनाथ का भव्य तीर्थ है| नीमच के समीप में आया हुआ यह तीर्थ १०४० वर्ष जितना प्राचीन है| वर्तमान में बिराजमान प्रतिमाजी पर वि.सं. १६७६ का शिलालेख है|
कुकुडेश्वर तीर्थ के निर्माण के पीछे रहस्यभरी कथा छिपी हुई है|
पूर्वापाजित अशाता वेदनीय कर्म के उदय के कारण एक दत्त नाम के ब्रह्माण को भयानक कोढ़ रोग हो गया| कोढ़ की असाहय वेदना के कारण वह एक बार तो आत्महत्या के लिए तैयार हो गया… परन्तु किसी चारण मुनि के दर्शन वंदन से उसके जीवन में आमूलचूल परिवर्तन आ गया | कर्म विज्ञान के बोध से उसे बोधि बीज की प्राप्ति हुई और वह एक श्रधावंत श्रावक बन गया|
एक बार नगर बाहर श्री गुणसागर केवली भगवंत का आगमन हुआ| केवली भगवंत के आगमन से दत्त का मन-मयूर नाच उठा| वह केवली भगवंत के दर्शनार्थ उधान में पहुँच गया| केवली भगवंत के मुख से भव-निस्तारिणी धर्म-देशना का श्रवण किया| जिसके फलस्वरूप उसकी वैराग्य भावना और दृढ़ बनी| उसने केवली भगवंत को अपना भावी पुछा| केवली भगवंत ने कहा “हे दत्त ! तुम्हारे आयुष्य का बंध हो चूका है, अत: एक बार तो तुझे तिर्यच गति में जाना पडेगा| यहाँ से सम्यकत्व का वामन कर तू राजपुर नगर में रोहित के घर में मुर्गे के रूप में पैदा होगा| परन्तु कुछ समय बाद ही जैन मुनि के दर्शन के प्रभाव से तुझे जातिस्मरण ज्ञान होगा| उस ज्ञान के कारण तुझे अपनी भूलों का स्पष्ट भान होगा, फलस्वरूप तुम्हारे अंतरमन में अपने किये हुए पापों के प्रति तीव्र पश्चाताप भाव जागेगा| इस पश्चाताप की आग में तुम्हारी आत्मा विशुद्ध बनेगी और अंत में अनशन व्रत का स्वीकार कर तुम इश्वर नाम के राजा बनोगे| उस भव में पार्श्वनाथ प्रभु के समागम से पुन: जाती स्मरण ज्ञान प्राप्त होगा…तुम्हारी आत्मा में बोधिबीज का वपन होगा और क्रमश: उत्तरोंतर आत्म विकास के पथ पर आगे बढोगे |
केवली भगवंत ने जो बात कहीं, वे अक्षरश: सत्य सिद्ध हुई| दत्त मरकर मुर्गे के रूप में पैदा हुआ और वहां चारण मुनि के दर्शन से उसके जीवन में परिवर्तन आया| अंत में अनशन व्रत के प्रभाव से वह मुर्गा इश्वर राजा के रूप में पैदा हुआ|
काल के प्रवाह में वह तीर्थ तो लुप्त हो गया परन्तु कुकुटेश्वर गाँव में आज भी कुकुटेश्वर पार्श्वनाथ की भव्य जिन प्रतिमा उस प्राचीन इतिहास को याद कराती है|
