19      Nagfana Parshwanath

Post-Vihar, TA-Vijapur, Dist-Mahesana

Mulnayak: White – coloured idol of Naagfana Parshvanath in the padmasana posture. There is an
umbrella of 7 hoods over the head of the idol. The height of the idol is 15" along with the hood.

Tirth: It is in the Vihar village on the Vijapur – Mehsana road. There is another temple of
Naagfana Parshvanath in the Aravalli hills.

Historicity: A new village by the name Vihar was built in the place of the old ancient village which
was buried in the ground. It is believed that this idol of Naagfana Parshvanath is of the period of
V.S.1873. This temple was built by the Jain sangh in V.S.1986 and this idol was installed on Basant
Panchmi day. Dharnendra Dev spread his hoods over the head of Parshvanath Bhagwan like an
umbrella to save him from rain, hence the name "Naagfana Parshvanath ".

Guidelines: This temple is situated in Vihar village on the Vijapur – Mehsana road. The nearest
town is Vijapur. The population of the village is 4,000. There is an Upashraya in the village.

Scripture: The name Naagfana is mentioned in "Shri Bhateva Parshvanath Stavan", in "365 Shri
Parshvajin Naammala", in "Shri Parshva Prabhu ke 108 Naam key Chand" etc. An idol of
Naagfana Parshvanath is there in Kareda Tirth, in Jiravala Tirth and in Kalikund Parshvanath
temple in Santacruz, Mumbai.

बीजापुर तालुका के विहार गाँव में मनोहर शिखरबद्ध जिनालय में श्री नागफणा पार्श्वनाथ प्रभु बिराजमान है| प्रतिमाजी १५ इंच ऊँचे व ११ इंच चौड़े है|
नागफणा पार्श्वनाथ की प्रतिमा सं. १८७३ की संभव है| वि.सं. १९८६ में संघ में मंदिर निर्माण कर परमात्मा की प्रतिष्ठा की थी|
