Mulnayak: Nearly 68 cms. high, white – coloured idol of Bhagwan Ghia Parshvanath in the
Padmasana posture.
Tirth: It is in the Ghia na pada of Patan in Gujarat.
Historicity: For centuries, Patan which is an ancient city of Gujarat, was famous for its social,
religious and cultural events. There is a story behind the name of “Ghia Parshvanath”. A business
man dealing in ghee was a big devotee of Bhagwan Parshvanath and worshipped him daily with
great faith and devotion. His devotion was rewarded and he earned a lot of money. He built a
beautiful and gorgeous temple and installed the idol of Bhagwan Parshvanath in it. This
Parshvanath came to be known as “Ghia Parshvanath” after the Ghee business man. This
Parshvanath is also popularly known as “Kamboiya Parshvanath”.
Other Temples: There are 2 temples in Ghia na pada in Patan. In one temple, Mulnayak is Ghia
Parshvanath and in the other temple Mulnayak is Shantinath Bhagwan.
Guidelines: This ancient city of Patan is well connected by rail and road to all the cities of Gujarat.
Patan is at a distance of 50 kms. from Mehsana, 30 kms. from Sidhpur, 12 kms. from Charup, 70
kms. from Sankheswar, 19 kms. from Deesa and approximately 130 kms. from Ahmedabad. Bus
and private vehicles are available here.
Scripture: A mention of Ghia Parshvanath is made in “Patan Chaityaparipati”, “365 Shri Parshvajin
Naammala”, “108 Naamgarbhit Shri Parshvanath Stavan”, “Patan Jinalaya Stuti” etc. There is an
idol of Ghia Parshvanath in Jiravala Tirth.
