Mulnayak: Nearly 38 cms. high Parrikar-yukt idol of Taankala Parshvanath made of 5 metals (paanch dhatu) in padmasana posture. There is an umbrella of 7 hoods over the head of the idol.
Tirth: It is in Dunkh Mehta ka Pada in Patan.
Historicity: For centuries, Patan, which is an ancient city of Gujarat, was known for its historical, religious and cultural events. Varnraj Chavda decided to build a new city and was looking for a place. With the help of a shepherd by the name Anhill, he found a place near river Saraswati. On an auspicious day, a new city was established by reciting the Jain Mantras on the 2nd day of the bright half of the month of Vaisakh in V.S.802. This city was named “Anhillpur Patan” after the name of the shepherd. Many famous Jain temples were built here by many kings, their ministers etc. One such temple is the temple of Taankala Parshvanath. The idol of Taankala Parshvanath was found in a tank filled with water; hence the name Taankala Parshvanath. A flag is hoisted on the 10th day of the bright half of the month of Magh every year.
Other Temples: There is another temple of Shantinath Bhagwan here. There are a total of 85 big temples and 134 small temples in Patan.
