Mulnayak: Nearly 175 cms. high, white-coloured idol of Bhagwan Amijhara Parshvanath in the
Padmasana posture.

Tirth: It is on the sea-shore near the Gandhaar village.

Historicity: Gandhaar was an ancient and very prosperous city of the Middles ages. In those days,
there were many Jain temples here. Ruins of the ancient Jain temples are found even today. This
city which was in an area of 3 miles in the past, is a very small village today and is famous for this
Jain pilgrimage. In ancient times, Gandhaar was a very well developed port and business centre.
In 769 – 770 A.D., the king of Sind attacked Gandhaar and destroyed all the temples and idols and
converted most of the temples into mosques. In the 17th century, this city was very prosperous and
became a very popular Jain centre with many Jain temples. When Jagatguru Shri
Hirvijaysurishvarji had come to Gandhaar for Chaturmaas along with his vast group of disciples,
King Akbar sent him an invitation to come to Fatehpur – Sikri. Gurudev accepted the invitation of
king Akbar. In the 18th century, when this city was destroyed most of the idols of Thirthankaras
were taken to Dahej village and kept underground there. Only the temples of Mahaveer Swami and
Amijhara Parshvanath were left standing and the other temples were destroyed. The temple of
Mahaveer Swami was built by Rajiya Vajiya of Khambhat in V.S. 1500. This dilapidated temple was
renovated in V.S.1810. The idol of Amijhara Parshvanath was installed by the revered hands of
Acharya Shri Vijaysensurishvarji in V.S.1659. This idol of Amijhara Parshvanath was again
installed in a newly built temple on the 5th day of the bright half of the month of Magh in V.S.1964.
Many times, nectar (Ami) keeps oozing out of this idol of Parshvanath Bhagwan. Hence, this idol of
Parshvanath is known as "Amijhara Parshvanath". As this temple is in Gandhaar, this Parshvanath
is also known as "Gandhariya Parshvanath". Acharyadev Shri Vijay Ramchandrasurishvarji was
given Diksha in this sacred place of Gandhaar in the year 1969 of the Vikram era.
Other Temples: In the compound, there is a temple of Mahavir Swami and there are three other
temples here.

Works of art and Sculpture: The natural scenery of this place is very beautiful and delightful. On
the walls of the temple, there are fine paintings of the sacred places of Shatrunjay Mahatirth,
Girnar, Sametshikhar etc. The idol of Parshvanath Bhagwan is ancient, beautiful, alluring,
miraculous and awe-inspiring. This is one of the Tirths of Bharuch Panch – Tirthi.

Guidelines: The nearest railway station of Pakhajan is at a distance of 13 kms. from the temple
on the Bharuch – Kavi railway line. This temple is at a distance of 45 kms. from Bharuch and 65
kms. from Kavi. Bus service and private vehicles are available here. Dharamshala and
Bhojanshala facilities are available here. There is an upashraya also.

Scripture: A mention of Amijhara Parshvanath is made in "365 Shri Parshva Jin Naammala", in
"Shri Sankheswar Parshvanath Chaand", in "Shri Bhateva Parshvanath Stavan", in "108 Naam
Garbhit Shri Godi Parshvanath Stavan", in "108 Naam Garbhit Shri Parshvanath Stavan", in "Shri
Hirvijay Suri Raas", in "Shri Parshvanath Naam Mala", in "Tirth Mala", “in 135 Naamgarbhit Shri
Parshvanath Stavan”, in "Shri Parshvanath Chaitya Paripati" etc. There are temples of Amijhara
Parshvanath in many places in India. The main temple of Amijhara Parshvanath is in Gandhaar.
There are temples of Amijhara Parshvanath in Khambhat – (Jiralapado), Dua (Banaskantha), near
Patel vada in Kheda, Sanand, Girnar Tirth, Aaspur (Mewad), Junnar, Sangli (Maharashtra),
Gariyadhar (Saurashtra), Shri Shatrunjay Tirth, Amijhara (Madhya Pradesh), Koliwada na Naka in
Una, Mundra (Kutch), Vadali, Sojitra and in many other places. There is an idol of Amijhara
Parshvanath in Jiravala Tirth and in Kalikund Parshvanath temple in Santacruz, Mumbai and in
Kesariya Nagar Temple in Palitana.

Mulnayak: Nearly 135 cms. high white-coloured idol of Bhagwan Amijhara Parshvanath in the
Padmasana posture. There is an umbrella of 9 hoods over the head of the idol.

Tirth: It is in the centre of the Amijhara village.

Historicity: The ancient name of the Amijhara Tirth was Kundanpur. Under the auspices of
Acharya Vijaysomsurishvarji, this splendid and miraculous idol was installed in the year 1548 of the
Vikram era. Since much nectar (Ami) was oozing out of the idol of Parshvanath Bhagwan, people
began to call this idol by the name of Amijhara Parshvanath. When Kundanpur village came into
the domain of King Sandhiya, impressed by the miracles of this idol, the king named this village as
Amijhara.

Other Temples: There are no other temples.

Works of art and Sculpture: The nine-hooded idol is artistic and beautiful. This idol of Amijhara
Parshvanath is very miraculous, splendid and lustrous. Devotees come here and worship with
great faith and devotion.

Guidelines: The nearest railway station of Indore is at a distance of 88 kms. The nearest town of
Dhar is at a distance of 32 kms. and Mohankheda is at a distance of 25 kms. from here. Bus
services and private vehicles are available here. Dharamshala and Bhojanshala facilities are
available here. There is an Upashraya also here.

Mulnayak: Nearly 90 cms. high, black – coloured idol of Bhagwan Amijhara Parshvanath in the
Padmasana posture.

Tirth: It is in the center of the Vadali village.

Historicity: In ancient times, this place was known as Valapalli. This temple of Parshvanath is
believed to belong to a period prior to the 12th century. It is said that once abundant nectar (ami)
was oozing out of this idol. So, the devotees began to call this idol of Parshvanath as Amijhara
Parshvanath. This idol is ancient and very miraculous.

Other Temples: At present, there is also a splendid temple of Bhagwan Shantinath. There are 52
idols in it. There is also a temple of Bhagwan Adinath. It is believed that both these temples belong
to a period prior to the twelfth century.

Works of art and Sculpture: In all these temples, the idols are wonderful symbols of serenity and
they are ancient,beautiful, alluring and splendid.

Guidelines: The nearest railway station of Vadali is at a distance of one km. from the temple. This
sacred place is on the Ahmedbad – Khedbrahama road at a distance of 14 kms. from the temple of
Idar and 44 kms. from the chief city of Himatnagar. Bus services and taxi services are available at
all these places. Dharamshala and Bhojanshala facilities are available here.

 श्री अमिझरा पार्श्वनाथ

श्री अमिझरा पार्श्वनाथ – श्री गन्धार तीर्थ
यह एक प्राचीन बन्दरशाह था| इस गाँव ने अब तक न जाने कितने उठान पतन देखे है| किसी समय यहाँ अनेकों जैन मंदिर थे| स्थापित प्रतिमा पर अंकित एक लेख के अनुसार वीर नि.सं. २१३३ (विक्रम संवत् १६६४) माघ शुक्ल १० के दिन श्री विजयसेनसूरीजी के हाथों प्रतिमा की प्रतिष्ठा हुई थी| प्रतिमाजी पर विलेपन किया हुआ है|
वीर निर्वाण २२वि शताब्दी (विक्रम की १७वि) में जगतगुरु हीरविजयसूरीश्वर्जी अपने विशाल समुदाय के साथ यहाँ चातुर्मास में विराजमान थे| उस समय बादशाह अकबर ने उन्हें फतेहपुर सिकरी आने के लिए निमंत्रण यहीं पर भेजा था| जगद्गुरु ने वहां धर्म की प्रभावना अनेकों धार्मिक कार्य संपन्न हो सके की संभावना को देखते हुए, श्री संघ की सलाह और अनुमति से आमंत्रण स्वीकार्र कर लिया था|
